About Us

Thank you for taking a look at this page to find out about us.

I’m not going to tell you about how I love flowers or I wouldn’t be a florist. Neither am I going to tell you about my qualifications and achievements because that's on the home page; but through all my studying I have made friends for life all sharing the same passion and worked with amazing, talented florists. Instead you will discover on here, a little of behind the scenes so to speak.

I grew up in a small village, down a lane opposite a river; close to working gravel pits and not too far a walk from the woods. I lived in a greenbelt area of the countryside, and eventually the gravel pits becoming a nature reserve. Through this being my surroundings till teenage years I fell in love everything nature offers; the seasons, the wildlife and the flowers.

Picking flowers from the garden and on walks putting them into containers to make them look pretty.

I loved going into the church especially after weddings to see the flower displays. So, without realising it until later in life my love for flowers has always been there and part of my life. I am sure this is where the natural flair comes from within my designs.

So, how did my business develop.

My background was hospitality and catering for lots of years, (no, I’m not going to say how many!) and then sort of ‘fell’ into education. I say ‘fell’ - I never thought as teaching but it just sort of happened, and I taught at the local college for 10 years. Then I took year out, bit like a uni gap year: to decide what I wanted to do for the rest of my working life. It didn’t take long to decide and that was the start of my floristry career and started on my first qualification at Duchy college. As part of the course we had to have work experience and this I loved. I was hoping to get a permanent position within a shop, but I was unable to, so hence the start of Floral Creations back in 2014.

Workroom and wildlife combined

At busy times I have 2 workrooms. One is my small studio where most of my working time is spent. However, I also have one on site where I am chosen florist working for a local large venue

My little studio backs onto a field which has horses in at certain times of the year; but on occasions my work gets stopped by the deer. The view from my window can be a distraction too, as its country and distant sea views.

When I first converted my workroom I had this lovely little toad who lived in here for about 3 years. I could never hear him, but I knew when he was there as I could feel his eyes watching us. I named him Prince. There is a robin who regularly flies into the onsite workroom, and he finds somewhere to perch and watch us work.

Not just me

Although most of the time I work independently, when there are busy periods and event work I do have a small team. Without the team I wouldn’t be able to achieve these times and as the saying goes - teamwork makes the dream work. A big Thank You always to my team at the end of each day we’re working together.

And finally

Enjoy my random photos on this page and hope you’ve enjoyed finding out about us. One last thing, I’m not from Cornwall but lived here over 33 years and wouldn’t live anywhere else. One of the sayings here is ‘dreckly’. Looking forward to hearing from you dreckly
